Taken with an extreme wide angle lens, this image shows just how cramped the site on which the church now stands. This light patches on the wall are the reflection from the windows of the Jury's Hotel (to the extreme left).
Given the tortured history of this collegiate church it is unsurprising that there is little, physical, resemblance with Rosslyn Chapel. However, just like Rosslyn Chapel it was intended to serve the same purpose - the saying of prayers for a powerful family.
