Collegiate Church of Semple (on Lochwinnoch)

Little is known of this Collegiate Church other than it was founded by John, Lord Semple. The charter of foundation is dated 21st April 1504 and is for a Provost, and six Chaplains of Nether Pennal, Upper Penal, Auchinlodmond, Nether Schelis, Lochwinnoch and Chapeltown, and a Sacrist and two choristers.

Like Rosslyn Chapel this Collegiate Church was founded by a powerful and relatively rich local family. Unlike Rosslyn Chapel, Semple Collegiate Church is in a poor condition.
