Although there are many carvings of the Green Man at Rosslyn Chapel it, that is Rosslyn Chapel, is not unique in this respect as many buildings, religious and secular, have carvings of the Green Man. Rosslyn Chapel differs only in that it has a large number of carvings of Green Men whereas other edifices have less.

The High Kirk of Saint Giles contains a number of Green Men both internal (in common with Rosslyn Chapel) and external (which is not common at Rosslyn Chapel).

This Green Man is to be found at the east door of St Giles which has long been un-used as a public access. It is rather weather worn but still gazes over those who would, and did, mount these particular steps to the kirk. Is the presence of a Green Man overlooking the east entrance in any way significant?
