Coldingham » Graveslab - Coldingham Collegiate Churc

It is claimed that evidence for the presence of fugitive Knights Templar in Scotland from c.1307 is to be found in the existence of KT graveslabs (also inaccurately described as ‘gravestones’) at Kilmartin, Argyll, Scotland.

At Coldingham one finds a number of similar graveslabs, the existence of which, has major implications in respect of the theory that fugitive French Knights Templar fled to Scotland, 1307, in order to avoid arrest by the King of France, Phillip the Fair. This alleged connection between the KT and such places has also been used suggest that the medieval Order of the Knights Templar (or Templars) had a direct connection with modern Freemasonry, particularly Scottish Freemasonry. This is an interesting hypothesis and is one to which we shall return elsewhere on this website.
