Bothwell » Bothwell church from the south west looking north east.

The choir (the low part of the structure to the right) is all that remains of the pre-Reformation collegiate church.

Like Rosslyn Chapel the choir is at the east end of the building pointing towards Jerusalem.

The other parts of the church were built in 1883 by David Hamilton who replaced the remains of “what must have been an unusually magnificent aisled Romanesque nave.” A few carved capitals from this were incorporated into the 1833 building. The choir was restored to its present condition by Rowland Anderson in 1898.
