Bothwell » The memorial tomb of John Pollock

The memorial tomb of John Pollock, Road Surveyor. Born at Newhouse in 1774 and died 1854.

Several such tombs have been built into the spaces between the buttresses of the pre-reformation choir. Perhaps this was done because the small and cluttered graveyard was full? In any event the elaborate nature of the tomb indicates that Pollock was a committed member of the church.
