Bothwell » Bothwell Collegiate Church

Bothwell church is located within a very restricted site - the surrounding graveyard (post-Reformation) affording little opportunity to obtain a satisfactory photograph. A fist-eye lens was used for this image hence to huge distortion. The pre-Reformation choir of the collegiate church is at the right. The tower and all to the left is of post-Reformation construction.

The view is from the south east looking north west. Note the buttresses a similar feature to those at Rosslyn Chapel although without Rosslyn’s pinnacles.

The post-Reformation tower and nave have been sympathetically added to the pre-Reformation choir with an obvious attempt to match the kind of stone used in both parts.
