IMAGES OF ROSSLYN CHAPEL
On this page we will provide images of Rosslyn Chapel both internal and external. Please do be aware that it can be difficult to obtain reasonable photographs with normal photographic equipment and, therefore, some images that one would expect to find here are not shown. We have also included some images that are not, frankly, up to scratch. The reason for including such sub-standard images is because they are important. Better quality images will be substituted as soon as possible. The Rosslyn Templars will try to obtain more images and post them here in due time.
Each image below is a hyperlink which will take you to a page displaying that picture which may be large (in memory size) and will, in some cases, take a considerable time to download. You will, dear reader, realise from this that those who maintain this site are not web experts.
We hope to be able to post more images of Rosslyn Chapel here in due course in order that they can be discussed and analysed. Please do keep visiting to see more new images.
Warning: some of the images may take some time to download
This page shows some of the images submitted by members of the Rosslyn Templars over several years. The quality of the images varies greatly depending on the skill, and equipment, of the individual member. Please bear in mind that the members of the Rosslyn Templars are primarily Masonic historians and not photographers. (or webmasters! - Ed.)
Some of these images have generated some discussion (occasionally heated!) and we shall endeavour to sum up the various arguments on another page elsewhere on the site. A link to such a 'discussions page' will be placed here in the near future.
There are a number of other images that we wish to add in due course so please do keep checking the site regularly. If you have any images of Rosslyn Chapel that you would like us to add to the site please send them for consideration. We would also like to have a better image of the complete ground plan so if anyone out there...
There is much to discuss here and we can but highlight a few of the topics that we wish to pursue.
For example there have been numerous articles written about the Green Man (to read one such article click here) of which there is thought to be about 100 within the chapel. However, there are a large, uncounted, number of angels within Rosslyn Chapel. Why so many angels are to be found with the chapel has not, as far as we are aware, been researched. Groundplans of the chapel have been published many times but these have never shown the unused foundations. Here the complete groundplan is published on this website and the importance and significance of this will be discussed.
These and other subjects will be posted here as and when the Rosslyn Templars who have promised papers on these subjects submit them.
