Biographies
It has been suggested to us that details of the people mentioned in this website would be a useful addition and we agree so here we shall start brief biographies of the most important individuals referred to in this site.
Forbes, Robert. (1708 - 1775) Episcopalian Bishop of Caithness. Wrote the first know Guide Book of Rosslyn Chapel. An Account of the Chapel of Roslin was first published in 1774 and then again in 1778.
Monck, George, 1st Duke of Albermarle. (1608 - 1670). A professional soldier he served Charles 1, the Commonwealth and the Protectorate. He distinguished himself not only as a general but also as an admiral. He was Governor of Scotland from 1654. In 1600 he march south which led to the Restoration.
